If we get enough participation, this might be the sort of thread that would be an excellent Wiki article...

OK, so here's what's in my (admittedly modest) automotive library:

Add Fred Puhn, "How to Make Your Car Handle"

Shop manuals for 924, 931, and 944.

Parts manual for the front-engine cars (924/928/944/968).

Some book about fiberglass - Fiberglass and Composite Materials by D. Aird Forbes.

Then there's always the classic "To Win" series by Carroll Smith... think I have Engineer to Win and Tune to Win...

But the one we all know and love is "Carroll Smith's Nuts, Bolts, Fasteners and Plumbing Handbook" - AKA Screw to Win as it used to be known.

Sports Car and Competition Driving by Paul Frere

That's all that comes to mind at the moment...

There's not enough space to list everything in mine. I have at least 80 books (probably more) and that doesn't count the pages of info that i have collected over the years. I have something like 20 spiral binders filled with info and a large pile waiting to get into binders. This is just the car related stuff.

I wouldn't know where to begin.

If you're willing to oblige us, how about the 10 most indispensable books from your library that haven't already been listed here...

I love the idea of the 365 Cars You Must Drive book.

Personally though, i reckon we can make that book even better between the lot of us. How about a 365 (or near enough) Cars You Must Drive and Actually Might Get a Chance To Before You Die. (I'll admit, the title could do with some work... it doesn't exactly roll off the tongue.) Undoubtedly there are some epic drives in that book but surely there must be at least a third of its contents, cars that most driving enthusiasts would probably be lucky enough to ever get to see in the flesh let alone have a crack at.

We should compile a list of cars that we must all experience and might realistically some day get a chance to.

I think I have 9 or ten of the ones mentioned.

I thought it strange to have the same books. Even the FB book claimed by 924racer.

Birds of a feather do flock together.

I have most of those as well.

Not the fuel deliver one.

I mostly have ones that deal with history and such.

Too many to list here too. But a few good ones come to mind. Carrol Shelby - The Wildlife is good. The Driver (for all you gumball fans). A book on F1 racing with pop-up cars (remember pop-up books when you were a kid? same thing...) plus a CD inside with sounds from each of the cars.

But my favorite has to be an original, genuine, mint condition race program from the very first Watkins Glen Grand Prix in 1948. (I also have programs from the five subsequent years, 49, 50, 51, 52, 53.) It is fascinating reading. The ads are great.
