Welcome to the 924 board.
This is the place for 924 owners as I notice you didnt get much response on the Pelican forum.
YES. I am sure that will fit alright. There are a few different ones for the 8V VW engines around. As 924RACR said, it isnt a bad price. However here is one from Techtonic Tuning that was $70 about a year ago.

Thanks for the tip, but they are sold out on the red cam gear .
ive also got some question im installing some VW Flatop 87.97mm pistons and when i first bolted on the head the valves would hit them so i just grinded
the lobes about 4 - 4 1/2 mm, Will this open the valve enough as far as it wont underpower the engine? |

That's an old pic - it was corrected already. _________________ "..it's made in Germany. You know the Germans always make good stuff."

Tell us your joking, please!
Personally haven`t had any experience with VW pistons but others here have used forged VW #1 pistons, albeit with a 931 head that has recessed valves. Using the search button above and entering VW pistons will give you lots of information.
Milling a notch on the pistons is common practice for valve clearance. If you are actually serious about removing 4mm from the cam lobe I think you will have difficulty pulling toilet paper off the roll, if at all! And that will likely be the least of your problems.

3mm is a quarter of max standard lift... also the cams have a very hard coating, have you replaced this? If not they will eat your follwers and wear round very very quickly.
I think you will find you have good medium range torque, but the top end will be seriously compromised and it will run out of power well before 6k.
Whe you say valves met the pistons, do you mean that the engine could not be turned over or that the valve and pistons could hit each other if the cam belt breaks? I would imagine its the latter which is just somethign you will have to live with on a sporty engine. Most modern engines are interferance as well as the 924 turbo and the 924S. Get another camshaft and live with it...

| I meant the engine could not be turned over. I have installed some mahle 87.97 pistons which are not dished as the stock ones. wouldnt the higher compression compensate at higher rpms? |

As I said, I suspect at low revs they would but your 9mm lift would become the choke point of your design.
This is all speculation though.
Did you resurface the cams? _________________ 1994 Lotus Esprit S4 - Work in progress...
