Remember we had similar symptoms?

I replaced the rubber boot beneath my fuel distribution unit, ahead of the turbo, which had eroded due to being 22 years old, and (drum roll please) VOILA, the hesitation, backfires, all disappeared.

Screw with vaccuum at your own risk! It's always just air, gas or electrical that causes hesitation, backfires or stalling. Timing is one variant of air, gas and electrical.

Hope your hesitation problem with the wastegate turns out ok. But if it doesn't, it's still one of those three.

Good luck.

Zoom zoom.

Rick, did you find a good price on the boot? Mine hasn't cracked yet, but it is the original, so probably time to replace it.
