Yea they wanted $100 for a year and seemed like A-grade arseholes. I got into a conversation with two blokes boasting about how much it cost them to fix their crashed GT2's - not my scene. _________________ 1979 931 with a 350 chev

You guys should join Triple A for the year instead, if you ever have a "meeting" they'll be your best friends. |

I bought my first 911 new in 1969. I too wanted to join the Metro NY PCA. When I applied they asked me who was my sponser. I walked away and they lost me for 18 years. Yes, they were snobs and I did not want to be with them. Later the group changed and I joined.
To tell you the truth I had a good time in the Metro club. Good bunch and over 40 activities a year. I know I was the PR Chairman.
I now reside in Florida and I am afraid I have come against the same dopey crowd. I never tell them I have a 911 so I tell them I own a 931 and they don't know what it is.
Enjoy what you have for whatever reason. Me?? It is therapy. _________________ "Never let them see you sweat"

PCA dues here in the States runs $46 per year.
Have a great region here in SE Michigan.
Don't do 40 events a year but have a varied range of them from DE's to a Club Race, to driving tours and speaker meetings. Very hard to not fine a spot you'd enjoy and fit in.
Been a member since the mid 90's and have not met one "Snob" yet and never a problem with acceptance of owning a 924. |

My father pays about 100$ a bit less than that, and since im in the same family i pay 30$. I´m only attending at driving events, wich is :
an autocross series. Actually plenty lokal series with a national finale. Pretty nice, dont cost anything extra. About 15 trackdays, wich costs ~46$ each. The people at least at the driving events are mostly not snobbish, never heard a bad word for driving a 924, lots of people think its fun that there actually is someone who trackdrives a 924. And are impressed by how fast you can drive with em (regardless of car they drive). But I think it depends a lot, i´ve heard from my uncle that porsche club france are the same as you describe, snobbish and not that fun. (Even though he drove a 993 back then). _________________ 1980 924 Turbo

Actually less...
Membership is available in 1, 2 or 3 year terms for US $42, $82, or $120.
I was once a PCA member but let it lapse because I couldn't attend the events and the Panorama magazine seemed totally for the "high end" Porsche crowd (although they have done issues on the 924, 968, etc in the past).
Where I am, they are not only not snobbish but the 924s are now rare finds at the events and one in good condition is bound to draw attention much like the 912 or 914. _________________ -Stu

I'm a new member of the PCA in the Northeast. So far I have been to one event and they are really nice. I even had a GT2 owner tell me how much he loves the 924. All in all its been a good experience. _________________ 1977 924 N/A Martini Edition |
