lol, i had to put a board across mine, after drilling a 2" hole through the board to let it fit over the top nipple, and kneel on it with all my weight to get it back together with stronger boost spring, then "spin" on it to get the nuts on . not the ideal way to go, but it worked... _________________ Eric

Interesting number there (3-4 psi). Someone here, ahem ahem, once found theirs limited to about 4 psi, and an incorrectly re-assembled (backwards) turbo bypass valve was the cause.
Was the turbo apart for a rebuild or anything before you got the car? _________________ "..it's made in Germany. You know the Germans always make good stuff."

Red, what Paul experienced was a pretty bizarre scenario, doubtful you have the same issue. Blip the throttle by hand, you should hear a prominent clacking sound coming from the unit when the throttle opens. If the valve were backwards, I don't think you would hear that.
And FWIW, when I sent mine off, I removed the bypass bits first. . .you don't want someone putting gorilla torque on those end plate bolts. . . _________________ Toofah King Bad

Which switch are you referring to? If you are talking about the one on the charge tube, it cuts power to the fuel pump if the car overboosts. If your car still runs with this switch disconnected, someone has "customized" your wiring. Probably not a great idea. . .if your wastegate fails, you could easily blow your engine. _________________ Toofah King Bad

It's an overboost cutoff switch. It cuts power to the fuel pumps if boost hits something around 25 psi (I still can't remember the exact number). It's an "NC" switch (normally closed), so if the wiring were still as it was done by the factory, the fuel pumps wouldn't run with it disconnected. It's supposed to complete the ground for the fuel pump relays' pull-in coil (electromagnet).
I recommend getting it wired correctly. Otherwise if/when the wastegate diaphragm fails, you'll be left with unlimited boost that'll be fun at first as it plasters you back in your seat, but will end badly with a bang as the engine self destructs. _________________ "..it's made in Germany.
