I've seen these on ebay and was wondering if anyone had any thoughts about their claims? From what I've read here no bolt-on will really change much - so I've probably just answered my own question...
Any thoughts appreciated...
Cheers,
Gavin. _________________ Whoever said you can't buy happiness forgot about Porsche!

Wheter it is better or not does not matter. If it is better you are ahead. If not you have a filter which can last the life of your car. Wash and oil it every so often.
I have had K&N filters on my carbs for 24 years. About 4 years ago the rubber shrunk and I bought new ones.
I like them. _________________ "Never let them see you sweat"

I would skip the Chrome Tube of Bling and use a replacement K&N air filter. _________________ Toofah King Bad

Yep, got a K&N cone filter on mine, too (looks just like the one pictured but without the "bling" chrome tube). No complaints.
I don't know what they're claiming but you're unlikely to get any performance increase from it. You may get a better induction sound..? _________________ '80 924 Turbo |

I too use a K&N cone and I like it just fine. I do want to have a go at making a nice functional cold air intake but not top priority.
The shroud in the pic might look cool on the 931 actually. If you just run a stright pipe off of the air boot and put the filter pretty much right in front of the hood latch. It will shroud the filter when looking at the engine bay. I might give this a try and then slap a nice silver Porsche crest on it to add class to the so called "bling".<---officially stale now that old men such as myself use it regularly |

You should check out the "kit" sold by K&N for this purpose. Seems somewhat cheesy. . .it uses a flexi hose from the fuel distributor to the filter location under the driver's side headlight (with plenty of zip ties along the way)!
Ugh.

The shroud, they say, is:

Hmm...
So whats the cost of a K&N filter for the 924? These guys want US$50 + US$67 shipping to Australia!

Thanks for the concern, but I got this from eBay (not from the seller), seems like a reasonable ebayer...

OK, but anyone with eight negatives in the past year who hides their feedback comments is trouble. _________________ Toofah King Bad
