Hi I'm Andrzej. I'm from Poland. I own 924 2.0 made in 1980.
I bought it some time ago. I don't know what to do to put in sway bars.
I read that I should have front sway bar and rear 14mm. However I don't have both of them on the car. I don't even have mounting points in the rear!? Why?
I got the rear sway bar from 944S2 with end links from my friend.
I have front sway bar and all the mess like here: http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/smoothies931pics/detail?.dir=/34d0&.dnm=9063.jpg&.src=ph
The problem is that it doesn't fit! Both to a-arm and to car!
My a-arm is from vw, so there is no place to mount this long end link.
Please help me. I don't know what to do!? Buy 944 front sway bar or can I install this one? If... how? And what to do with the rear one? Should I make special mounting kit or something? I would really like to make it on my own - I'm a student and I'm collecting money for new shocks

Swaybars were actually an option. If the car was ordered without a rear bar, then you can buy/make brackets to mount the bar to the torsion bar carrier, but stock rear camber eccentric bolts, and the "dogbone" drop links to connect the ends of the bar to the control arm.
For the front - cars that came with a front bar mount the bar to the frame rail, then use ~6inch droplinks from the ends of the bar to bolt onto the front a-arms. The VW a-arms don't have the swaybar mounting. Your best bet is to get some stock 924 control arms, or get creative with the welder.
A 944 front swaybar won't fit without exchanging control arms, doing a little welding, and probably a bit more work. You want a 924 front swaybar to start with.
Search through photos on the board and you should come across some pics to help make more sense. |

I think you can mount the front swaybar to the a-arms, simply by drilling the holes, maybe adding a little reinforcement. The bigger problem will be making mounting brackets like the 944's - though if you bought the bar with the brackets and bushings, all you need to do is firmly attach them to the frame rails - not too bad a job.
Nick's got it right for the rear swaybar mounting... _________________ Vaughan Scott

i recomand that you get rid of those VW a-arms and get porsche ones, this way you can just bolt the sway bar on. i dont recomand drilling and reinforcing since you might not know what you are doing....and you dont want anything to fail down there. Its Europe for god's sake...its full of 924's go get what you need and replace your vw parts with porsche original ones. _________________ Supercharger and EFI kits

Hi Andrzej
great Polish 924 site.
What are these mags off, love this car, beautiful 924
I always thought the 924 looked great with the standard spiders, but this is even better
Without a doubt this is one of the best 924's I've seen.
Beautiful clean lines, NO go faster appendages
Please post some pics of this car into this thread, I didn't want to take too many liberties. |

About sway bars I have to admit that there are a lot of spare used parts from 924, but I wanted to keep vw a-arms because they are cheap. However i don't want to make any hurt to my babe, so I have no choice. I will buy porsche a -arms, but which ones you recomend? 944 or 924?
Rear sway bar - My 924 is very classic one. It's in very good shape and doesn't have any special/users solutions, I don't know how you call that.
So I have to think if I want to change any think in rear.
If we speak about Polish website - I'm not the one who created it, but I'm always very proud of it.
OutOfTheBox the 924 you find very attractive is my favorite one! Haha!
You can find more photos on Polish Porsche Club www.porscheclub.pl.
"I always thought the 924 looked great with the standard spiders, but this is even better " - the car looks really great when you see it real.

I have the stock A arms on my 77.5 and I use a 25.5 mm front bar. You need to get the straps that come down from the chassis on a 944, Weld or bolt them on and then bolt the bar on the A arm. Easy.
The hardest part is wheter to weld or bolt the straps on. Get all the parts from the 944. _________________ "Never let them see you sweat"

They are from mitsubishi. But they are not 4x108. The owner changed from 4x113 (?) to 4x108 as far as I know.
17'' of course.
Take a look at the galleries: http://www.924.pl/photogallery.php There is more photos of the car. |

The last question: Which front sway bar is better? The old one from the 924 or this from 944?
If I buy a-arms from first 924 I will just have to bolt sway bar. And this is I suppose the simple and the best idea, or not? |

I have front and rear sway bars sitting in my garage from my 84 944. I switched mine out to 951 bars when I rebuilt the car. You can have them for the price of the freight if you want. I'm sure sending them to Poland won't be cheap but you are welcome to them. If you do your homework and need standard 944 drop links etc they are available cheap from Pelican parts. I could put them in the same package to save you some money on freight.

It will be just great! Thank you. However I do not know where to find information about freight prices. Firstly I have to be sure I will be able to pay for package. Can you help me putting here any link? |
