Oh no. I'm just an old dinosaur now with old V2 MS-I Technology. You and Nick are the future, the new "Guru's" of EFI. Let the force be with you!

Ah hell I'm into the spirit of this how to thing now.
I'm starting on my MS project and have injectors,
FPR, 52mm throttle body with TPS. New project is the fuel rail, I am placing injectors in the manifold right above where the runners curve so that they'll shoot straight at the intake ports. Not the best location granted, I'd rather they were in the ports but I don't think fuel dropout will be a major issue.
I have about a million questions regarding which ECU and version to run with. Megasquirt 1 V2 looks pretty cheap and appealing at the moment. I just want basic fueling, ignition will remain stock for now. _________________ '81 931 in various states of assembly |

Well, it all depends on what sort of features your looking for? ... knock control? ... ignition at a later time? ... boost control? nitrous control? ... or just fuel? ... are you going to be running huge injectors?

Looking at 33lb injectors from a turbo dodge, no nitrous or boost control needed. Knock sensors would be a treat, ignition maybe later on down the line.
Right now I want a closed loop EFI system that will idle nicely, pass emissions and not give me severe driveability issues. My car pings on 92 on hot days, I'm pretty sure a tight air/fuel ratio could help with that. _________________ '81 931 in various states of assembly |

Cbass,
Just my two cents here but I think I would do more like Min did and convert you ignition first with MS then tackle the fuel. You could get rid of the ping straight off.
I also would consider mounting the injectors in the stock location if for no other reason than cold runability and emmisions. Long runners and fuel don't work well together. Talk to guys trying to run a tunnel ram intake on an American V8 on the street! They are not daily drivers

bwhaha, got my wideband installed last night, and my knock sensor unit (www.viatrack.ca) ... I love tuning, way to much fun. The wideband has so far been worth every penny.

BTW guys, if you have gone the MS-way and looking for a good WB-kit that is affordable then VEMS produced a kit called AfreshTiny that is WBo2 and EGT controller/display in one 52mm standard gauge. The kit contains Bosch WB sensor, connectors etc. You have to purchase EGT sensor from the webshop though. All this comes for something like 300 Euros.
Here's the link:
http://www.vems.hu/wiki/index.php?page=AFreshTiny
And that's how it looks like:

Min, this is together with EGT sensor and datalogging. Current firmware is NOT experimental. Friend of mine bought it and it shows nice and clear numbers not like Innovative's LED dots and no issues whatsoever.
You should compare it's features with Innovative's _________________ '83 924 2.6 16v Turbo, 470hp

ok, the lc-1 has datalogging. The lc-1 supports programed outputs at any voltage so you can run whatever afr gauge you want (so you don't have to deal with 'dots') The lc-1 supports datalogging. The lc-1 supports daisy chaining o2 sensors together. The lc-1 has warranty. The lc-1 doesn't come from europe and you can get one in my case within 12 hours from order. the lc-1 doesn't cost 200 dollars more for a feature that you may or may not use. the latest version of the lc-1 has no issues whatsoever (previous version had a DAC that was rated too low and unless connected with a resistor tended to blow up) Hrm. I don't see EGT being worth 200 bucks. Sorry.

Thats for you guys who reside in US, but in Europe it's cheap and Innovative LC-1 kit costs more than 350$ here.
And from my own experience, EGT together with WB is essential for tuning a turbocharged engine.
Btw, that Afresh-kit has warranty also. _________________ '83 924 2.6 16v Turbo, 470hp

I'm not to concerned about how to get EGT hooked up myself. Its just a ktype thermocouple. Were does it state on that page the warranty provided? If lc-1 costs that much over there, eww. Ah well. A few more goodies and I'm going to have to start upgrading my engine.
