For those who care I have now intercooled and and upped the boost on my supercharger. After destroying my first smaller pulley made of plastic I went ahead and built a "real" pulley from aluminum. Fortel actually. Strange stuff to machine. It provides a 41% overdrive and a solid 8.5 lbs boost thru the intercooler. Da' bitch runs now!! What a difference. Pulls like a bigblock Camaro.
I could immediatly hear detonation though. First time I ever detected it. I even tried to induce it before just so I could make sure I could hear it after seeing the pictures of Nicks pistons. He said he never heard it and it looked like someone took a ballpeen hammer to his pistons! Anyway, I knocked the timing back about 3° in the new boost ranges and nothing since.
The intercooler works great! The highest temp rise over ambeint I recorded in my datalogs was 15°. The blower is pumping some very hot air now too. You can't touch the discharge tube on the blower anymore after a run but the output on the intercooler is cool to the touch. It did block airflow to the radiator though (as Sequential warned it might). I wired the fans to a switch and it works very well. Actually cools better than the stock setup. That's about it.

Alright todd, you chickened out on the pully , thought you where going for 11 psi ...
Check your plugs not because you do not hear anydetonation , does not mean it is not detonating, remember to run at least one stage colder than stock on the spark plugs... _________________ 928 gts prototype

Ya ya, I got tired of dragging the damn bit across the circumfrance of the pulley trying to whittle it down so i talked myself into going with 40% over instead of 50% Atleast I can "buy" smaller pulleys at the next stage. A machinest I am not!

Good idea. I haven't done either yet
Paul, dyno's are like frog fur around here so that will have to wait till I bolt on the Turbo head and turn up the boost once more. But I am going to move out of the stone age and actually buy a wideband O2

sweet, i'll send ya my ignition map and you can compare it with yours... as we're running almost identical boost, funny how we both went from 3/4 psi respectively to 8.7/8.5 psi?? great work, if you haven't installed an oil cooler you might consider keeping an eye on how fast your oil lasts...

Paul, I'll just run on the rich side and be conservitive with my timing till the next stage then I'll go for the dyno run.
Leadfoot, your maps would be nice to see. I don't remember if you are intercooled or not?
Chrenan, I am running the stock radiator. I always hated the looks of those plastic tanks so I built one from steel and mounted it out of the way.

your motor was a NA motor right?
how big is you intercooler?

Keaton, yes it is NA. It has a blowoff valve mounted on the left side of the blower hat. Just a 25mm stock Bosch unit fron an A4 audi. The intercooler can be seen at this link:

It looks to be the same as Out-of-the-box only modified for my purposes.

Endwrench - congratulations on the good work! Looks like you're having lots of fun Pulls like a big block eh? heh heh.
By the way - why does your MS board look so odd to me? Maybe I just haven't opened mine up in a while...
Your pics keep my motivation up to squeeze in some more time to finish mine up! I'm looking forward to swapping logs with you MS guys soon
