Ye asked...and ye shall recieve...
If it runs?
Take a WILD guess broh!
The 420cc injectors we used for starters bottomed out when the boost gauge hit 0.4 bar.
The 720cc ones in right now will most likely follow the same path..soon enough.74% duty cycle@ 0,6 bar of pressure..
Funny...cause ir runs like a stocker until boost hits. For real.
Out back..it still says "190D"
So far(l10 days) kill list contains;
Friends -00 M5
-02 M3
Friends -03 Ferarri 355 F1
AMG 55SL..
So Peep...let me assure ya...with this one..i´m gonna be startin huntin down the srotch rockets the next couple a weeks..
Honestly..i never fathomed...i had NO idea..never been into an engine that takes on the boost like this one does..
Race heritage..yeah..DOH!! |

Hehe. No. Why would a 924 still say "190D" on the back? The car is a Merc 190, and I'm assuming the engine is from a 190E 16-V Cosworth? They are great cars and stock were pretty good compitition against the M3s of their day. I'm not sure why they never caught on. _________________ Gone: 1981 silver 924 w/ black int. and a 5 speed. |

Funny, in another thread I mentioned that I'd just watched series 3, episode 5 of Top Gear and they'd driven the VW Corrado VR6. The story was on "future classics" and the other car they included was the special Merc 190 (can't remeber the exact details but it was the one that was built for rally but never made it). They reckon it was one of the best ever built. Fantastic chassis and a gun engine.
Looks like you're onto a winner! _________________ '80 924 Turbo |

Whoa looking good , based on both intake and exhaust manifold big hp was the full intention... Welll bring it to FLA. i'm sure i could find an E30 M3 turbo to entertain you with , would make for a good comparsion as they are of the same vintage and where both design to race each other . _________________ 928 gts prototype

Nice!!!
I've actually thought about getting a 190D in the last few days. And that 2.3L is the stock engine still, of course modified, but not a swap in, right?

Yeah, Mercedes spent 600 million british pounds in the early 80s to develop this
car. They say it was either gonna make or break the whole company. And I believe
it still holds the record today on the Nardo track in Italy. It averaged 249km/h
for 50,000km. By 1992, they had sold 1.2 million of them.
I believe it would be somewhat more reliable than a 924. |

Hehee, VERY NICE! Glad to see it's done! And not just done but outcome is absolutely awesome!
Right now it's just hard to imagine the difference between the previous (when i was in your MB) and this one
BTW, Jesper. I'm installing VEMS on my 931 right know and 5 of my friends have already bought it too (was it due to my persuasion or not ) _________________ '83 924 2.6 16v Turbo, 470hp

I am confused, I thought the 190D had the 2.2 or 2.5?
Wasnt it the 190E in the US that had the 2.3, I could have my years and motors mixed up, but I am curious. _________________ McQueen had his Mustang I have my Bullet 924.

Hmm, I guess you're right. That engine might be a swap in after all. I thought
it was still the original. |

Nah guys...the car is a cossie alright.Make no mistake.
Just that...the car per se is almost forgoten,and.."190D" emblems are dirt cheap.*LOL*
Thanx Peep-and the rest of ya.
Apart from the turbo gun finding it way into the engine cmpt, lesse just say that i dug up a "cup kit" and some alu 4 pot calipers and 320mm discs to boot.
And the REAL beuty is that it still carries a rusted out rear left fender n all
"Shine...will never replace attitude" huh?
Our findings so far tho points to that we will bottom out the turbo(compressor) at a LOT earlier state than we anticipated.
We´re reaching 1,3 and the boost starts to drop off as i swing through the rev band.
Gonna spend some time looking into that,and..on the other hand swapin for an even bigger turbo seems....*clears throat* the only reasonable thing to do
Seq.
U guys already invited us to FLA once for the world street shootout.
We went home... world champs
Peep.
Fyi,you should rest your eyes on KG and Jonas´s new turbo.
JESUS!!! I mean...it MORE than half the size of the engine block!! |

Sure.
Ask anyone of the old boys that´s been into the world street shootout for a while and you´ll see...
Back in the day(late 80s/early 90s)some cocky SOB decided to invite us viking to make it a "world" shootout.
Guess it came a little to "inser foot here" kinda deal, cause we sure as hell beat the US boys heads up and went home world champions...
Vikings Seq...see..shine will never replace attitude ..
Nah..it´s all in good fun,but the story´s true though.
Me becoming a LITTLE( ) of age, havin been around the net a while...everytime i get onto any of the more hardcore street sites..and mention that i´m a Swedish streetracer..the tone kinda changes from cocky to humble in a heartbeat..funny..
What´s more is that you might have heard of a couple of the more heavy hitters that these days more or less resides state side?
"Bagarn"(the baker) with his "Autoshop" down in FLA.(He´s from a town up north around here by the name of Umeå)
"The Finn".Jari..that keeps on buildning hard core engines for Chrysler amongst others.
Altho "roller cam Ronnie" et al are more or less gone, there indeed ARE some of the "old boys" around.
Like "Bostic"..sure as hell older, and what´s more...there´s a little more OF him these days.To my knowledge the mad man again carries the speed record down the 1320 with a damn trailer out back..in his "somewhat" souped up impala SS.
Robert "Mr Syclone" Pothorski(?) that still keeps going faster n faster with his AC intact..(reasoning that a streeter is a streeter).
Or..the Skinne brohs...that left the V8 gang and souped the living daylights out of an Audi 80..asf asf asf.
Trust me...racing-and streetracing-is VERY much alive and kicking around here-as is dragracing.
Johan and Fredrick of DTE racing..that had Dr Ernie build them a 482 chebby BB with twin HX 50s..that dynoed 1984 of the good ones at a boost of 0,9 bars..
I could write you a list that´d keep me busy ´til any given sunday broh |

Peep btw.
If you need backup in any way with the VEMS...just write me and we´ll take it from there.
As stated...Jörgen-who´s one of the designers and developers-is just a phone call away.
Hot tip of the day tho-if not done already-toss ANY and all VR sensors the hell outta there and order a Honeywell GT1 from
www.elfa.se
You´ll be happy you did. |
