Wilwood 4 piston Calipers, pads, discs etc... their is a direct bolt on kit for the 944.. 5 bolt... Better stopping power than a stock 944 Turbo.
But again - they are a bolt on for the 944 and do not require upgrades to the rest of the system at all.
If you have the four bolt - you would need to upgrade to 5 bolt and then... well you would be cooking with gas! |

thanks!, so these work for the 924 aswell?.
I dont like my brakes at all actually, they dont stop the car in the same way it accelerates away
Better be safe, and get bigger (or just better) brakes! |

The normal 924 brakes work fine... AS LONG AS YOU HAVE THE REAR BRAKE SHOES ADJUSTED PROPERLY.
The rear brakes are not self adjusting, and you unless you adjust the brake shoe clearance every 2-3 thousand miles, bake action from the front and rear brakes is going to be POOR.
The reason that front brake action will be poor is because the 924 has diagonal braking circuits. The left front brake is tied to the right rear, and the right front is tied to the left rear. If the rear brakes are out of adjustment (shoe clearance too large), then all of your brake pedal travel goes to make the rear brake shoes make contact with the drums instead of being used to clamp the front pads, and rear shoes to the rotors and drums.
An upgrade to 931 or 944 four wheel disc brakes is the least expensive way (besides adjusting your rear brake shoes on a weekly basis) to improve and maintain your brake performance. The 944 NA four wheel disc brakes are awesome when installed on a 924 NA with improved tires (to take advantage of the improved braking). |

Have to agree with Gohim, and I would like to add that I have been tracking my 924 (with stock rear drum brakes) since 1999 and have never ever had any problems stopping on the track or street.
If you are having problems stopping, verify that the system is functioning properly (1) drums adjusted; (2) fluid flushed; (3) pads & shoes w/n use limits; and, (4) calipers rebuilt within the last decade.
Remember, the drum brake setup was used on the 924 turbo and there was never any problems. |

I need to add that I despised having to adjust the rear brake shoes every month, and as soon as I could, I converted to four wheel disc brakes.
With the four wheel disc brakes I am much more confident that the brakes will work properly when I need them, than when I had the drum brakes in the rear, because I didn't get around to adjusting the rear brake shoes every month like I should have.
But the drum brakes never let me down when I was fastidious about adjusting them every month. |

Same here. At the track the brakes were fine. I have a set of 5 bolt ready to go if anyone needs them. NYC. _________________ "Never let them see you sweat"

The brakedisc is stock 924.
Actually the calipers are audi b3 but audi b3 has brake carriers that won't fit. You have to use audi caliper and brake carrier from vw passat (1988 - 1994 as far as I remember).
You could probably use a passat caliper and carrier but audi has bigger caliper - that is why I took audi caliper and passat carrier.
ps. The "smarter" carrier compared to 924 is that audi/passat carriers have guides with grease in it so they adjust easier as the pads are wearing. |

Those Passat brakes are reasonably stout actually, for single piston calipers. Great upgrade for high hp Golfs. _________________ '81 931 in various states of assembly |
