An acceptable situation would be to even see the unit spool up fast, then peak then drop slightly at redline, moving you max boost to slightly below redline, to reduce stress on the engine.
You would still have boost, just it would be on its way down. So say 3+ at 1k, climbing fast to a peak holding at 8 PSI till 5500 rpm, then dropping to say 5 PSI at 6500 rpm. It would all be a manner of tuning. Not to hard to do, but you have to overcome the limits of typical drive components. The impeller and shaft are not the issue, its anything that drives those to make your boost.
One thing a roots can not do is hit the high boost levels of a centrifugal. SO if geared right you can make 10, 20, 30 even 40 or more PSI, provided the engine could handle such levels. High efficiency, low heat and insane boost capabilities, now someone go build an 924 engine that can handle those levels. HAHAHA
Now this is where my madness shows… being a space balls fan, I would have to label my override button “ludicrous speed”. If you don’t get the humor, man that’s a terrible shame….

Nice work, I can see a few people lining up for one... must have taken a while to work out the gearing...
Are you running a seperate oil line for it??

As long as you don't go too fast... Once you exceed ludicrous speed you will go plaid (sp)? |

924guy, dude I will be going up your way in the next week or weekend going to Orlando, so I can swing by and drop it off or meet you at the exit ramp or something. I will have the family with, going up to look at some houses.
Leadfoot -- It is self contained at this time, but I am thinking of a oil system for sustained high boost and subsequently high bearing and shaft speeds and related heat.
Primary testing on the ALPHA unit was at a max of 12 PSI, but that is no where near the limits.
That would yield 4.4 PSI at 3250 engine RPM… and should in theory yield 2.2 PSI at 1625 RPM, that is of course depending on the principal that as you half engine rpm, boost drops by its square root.

So what is the difference between the blue and green runs? I assume the red is stock.

Those red numbers still seem a bit high for a stock 924 2.0 n/a _________________ [This Space For Rent] |

The Red is the baseline for a 2.5 Liter. Rear wheel Horsepower.
The diff between the other two runs is higher boost level.
Keep in mind that the 944 I tested is not mine and was not stock. Most of the stock 944 NAs I have seen max rear wheel is around 131-133 hp. With Peak Torque of 133-136. All at the rear wheels.
I will post some other runs tonight, not nearly as impressive, but they are decent, shows what can be done with different pulley ratios.
In the runs you see, I was making boost at 2000 RPM, spooling up quickly and then venting once I hit max boost. Technically I was seeing boost below 2000 RPM, not much but it was there. |

Wow everyone is so quiet... hemmm.
Guess I will have to do a poll and see who is interested... if I should build these and sell them or what. |

been busy...working and surfing...
The figures are looking good although charts look a little peaky.... are there some fuel or belt slip issues??....
Or is this how centrifugal superchargers look on the dyno.
It's funny how from stock the hp curve just moves up the range with little change to hp dips and peaks.
One would think that with boost applied the dips in airflow are minimised somewhat.
I'd give your system a try but I'm quite happy with the one I've got at the moment. Anyway it will prove a good comparison when you finally fit one to a 924 N/A.
P.S I like red.... Bright orange would be cool too...
