Guys, my wife bought a rear hatch seal from Bumper to Bumper locally and it fit really well and has done the job for a while now. Scott (Speedster9110) had asked me to get him the part number and I figured I'd share it with you folks, too. It's super cheap (about $30 - $40 CDN for enough to do the thing) compared to the OEM seal.

Part number G7056 - 500. I have no idea if the part number crosses over to Napa, but at least this is a lead.

Cheers.

I tried that number on the NAPA Website, but nothing is found.

Did the package that you received have a manufactuer's number on it?

Why did you mention NAPA, are they affiliated with NAPA somehow?

If not, is "Bumper to Bumper" related to another U.S. Company, or do they ship to the U.S.?

Do they have a website with photos? I was wondering whether the part that they have is available in a later model configuration (944s, and late 924S use a different part number with an extra flap of material on the rear edge).

Yeah, Smoothie, the first link - that's the one. Part number even matches. CS - G7056.

Gohim, it didn't come in a package - just a roll in a box and you cut however much you need. Sorry, mate, but I don't have answers to your questions. I hope Smoothie's links help out there.

Okay, thanks.

So the stuff is a generic replacement, not an exact match, bought by the foot, and not the same as the that used on later 944s, or the 924S (no extra flap of material at rear edge).

Just curious - did you have any trouble with it getting to or maintaining it's form?
how long have you had it installed?

sounds like a great option at half price!

Gohim - yes, it's the generic stuff without the extra flap. She's had it on her car for a couple of years now and it has shrunk a little but not much. Could have been my less than perfect install, though. I like it. It seems a little more beefy than the OEM seal.

B - no, I don't recall having any trouble with it. We did use a little adhesive here and there and I made sure to go round the hatch and pinch the seal mounting strip (if that's the right term) tight.

In Oz I have the local Clark Rubber place.
It sell all manner of foam and rubber stuff, mainly for pools and furniture.
Funnily enough it sells door rubbers off the roll for all manner of cars.
I am sure I'd be able to get a hatch seal there as well, just need a cross section and length.

ifif I measured right the width of our rubber portion is 11/16" (flat side) and the height of the bubble is about 5/8" - if that helps anyone - it did appear visually to have enough space to fit the 3/4 x 3/4 although it might (?) be tight closing it at first
