Well...
Problem ended up being the Fuel Pressure Regulator (FPR).
I was directed there by another member, with link to clarks garage article.

Great thought..
The Distributor was loose at top (not locked in completely)
Removed Distributor and found locking screw was in place on the ignition rotor.
Dust shield was also broken.
Cleaned ins ...

Interesting.. Had to look up what exactally your talking about... But, that might just be the problem.

Yeah I did get a OME DME relay. (I suppose it could still be a bad one).
Haven't tried jumping to bypass the relay to see if that works.

But did check speed sensor and refe ...

Tried the new relay without success. My issue seems only to manifest itself with hard acceleration. Could it be something else?
